Lighting has never been just another category of work for our team. Since 2015, Hamptons Landscape Lighting has been exploring how light changes architecture, gardens, pathways, pools, terraces, specimen trees and the view through the glass after sunset.
That interest extends indoors and out. Our connection to Home Technology Experts means the same team that thinks about landscape composition also understands architectural lighting, Lutron, Control4, Savant, automation and the way a modern Hamptons property actually operates.
Most of our work is here on the East End. Over time, that has taught us what survives salt air, what fails around irrigation, what disappears behind a season of hydrangea growth, what becomes difficult to service, and what still looks beautiful after the novelty of a new installation wears off.
Landscape lighting should be designed, not simply installed.
A fixture can be installed correctly and still create poor lighting. Good landscape lighting depends on judgment—where the eye travels, how light and shadow interact, what the property looks like from inside, and whether every beam has a reason to exist.
Design before decoration.
We are not trying to scatter attractive fixtures around a property. We are composing how architecture, landscape, circulation and views are experienced after dark.
Less can be better.
More fixtures do not automatically create better lighting. Restraint preserves depth, reduces glare and lets important moments emerge from darkness.
The view matters more than the fixture.
We consider arrival, pathways, outdoor living areas and the scenes visible from inside the home—not just where a light can physically be placed.
Night aiming finishes the design.
Plans and specifications get us close. After-dark aiming lets us tune beam angles, intensity, glare and visual balance under the conditions the system was made for.
The Hamptons is beautiful. It is not easy on lighting.
We have opened enough failed connections, replaced enough corroded equipment and re-aimed enough fixtures hidden behind changing landscapes to know that outdoor lighting here needs to be planned differently.
Salt air, irrigation, sandy soil, storms, freeze-thaw cycles, landscapers, mature plant material and seasonal use all affect how a system should be specified and installed. The choices nobody notices on night one often determine whether the system remains reliable and serviceable years later.
The most expensive fixture is not always the right fixture.
Part of being a good advisor is knowing where an investment matters. We explain the tradeoffs so clients can spend intelligently—not simply spend more.

Our relationship with Home Technology Experts gives HLL unusual depth around lighting control and home automation. For properties using compatible Lutron, Control4 or Savant systems, exterior lighting can become part of the same experience as the rest of the residence.

Vanessa Kordich leads the visual composition of much of our landscape lighting work, working from the property itself—its views, architecture, mature plantings, circulation and patterns of use—then collaborating with homeowners, architects, landscape designers, builders and our installation team.
The work remains collaborative because the best landscape lighting rarely happens in isolation.

How long has Hamptons Landscape Lighting been doing landscape lighting?
HLL has been designing, installing and caring for landscape lighting systems since 2015, with most of our work concentrated on homes and estates throughout the Hamptons and East End.
Do you have professional lighting designers on staff?
Yes. HLL has two AOLP-certified lighting designers on staff. They bring professional design principles to fixture placement, beam selection, glare control, layering, zoning, nighttime composition and the relationship between the landscape, architecture and views from inside the home.
Can landscape lighting integrate with Lutron, Control4 or Savant?
Yes. Through our relationship with Home Technology Experts, compatible exterior lighting can be coordinated with whole-home control systems, schedules, keypads and scenes. The technology should make the property easier to live with, not become the focus of the experience.
Do you always recommend premium fixtures?
No. We advise clients on good, better and best options based on the application. Some locations justify spending more for optics, materials, adjustability, finishes or corrosion resistance. Other locations can be served extremely well by a simpler fixture. We would rather explain the tradeoff than hide it.
Why is nighttime aiming so important?
Landscape lighting is ultimately experienced after dark. Night aiming lets us adjust fixture direction, brightness, beam placement, glare and the relationship between illuminated and intentionally dark areas after the complete composition can actually be seen.
We still get excited when the lights come on.
