Why Work With a Landscape Lighting Designer?

Anyone can stick fixtures in the ground. We design lighting that feels intentional, layered, and comfortable to live with every night.

Lighting That Matches Your Architecture

We look at sightlines, materials, window locations, and how you move through the property so the lighting supports the way you actually live.

Balanced, Layered Composition

Path lights, uplights, downlights, and ambient glow are planned together to avoid hot spots, glare, and “runway” effects.

Fewer Fixtures, Better Results

Thoughtful design means we often achieve more with less—using the right fixtures in the right locations instead of over-lighting everything.

Comfortable Light, Not Just Bright Light

We focus on human experience—avoiding glare in windows, protecting dark skies, and creating gentle transitions from indoors to outdoors.

Built for Coastal Conditions

Fixture selection takes into account salt air, wind, and weather, so the design looks great not just this year, but for years to come.

Bill of Materials

A detailed list of fixtures, transformers, and controls so pricing and scope are clear and transparent.

Control & Zoning Strategy

Recommendations for zones, dimming, and control—whether that’s timers, smart controls, or integration with Lutron / Control4.

Property Walkthrough (Optional)

On-site review to align on views, priorities, and key focal points before finalizing the design.

Installation Proposal

If desired, a turnkey proposal for our team to install, aim, and support the system after design is complete.

Coordination With Your Team

We collaborate with your architect, landscape designer, or builder so lighting integrates cleanly into the broader project.

Architectural Lighting Design FAQ

What is architectural landscape lighting design?
Architectural landscape lighting design treats your home, gardens, and outdoor spaces like a design project—not a product. We plan how light, shadow, and brightness levels work together so the property feels comfortable, intentional, and beautiful at night.
How is this different from just adding more landscape lights?
Instead of guessing or simply adding fixtures, we look at architecture, pathways, trees, views from inside the home, and how you actually use the space. The result is a balanced, layered plan that avoids glare, dark patches, and “runway” path lights.
Do I need a design if I’m not ready to install yet?
A design is especially valuable if your project is being phased or coordinated with new construction or landscape work. It gives your builder, landscaper, and trades a clear roadmap—even if installation happens later.
What do I actually receive from a lighting design engagement?
Depending on the level you choose, you may receive a conceptual lighting plan, a detailed Bill of Materials, fixture schedules, zoning and control recommendations, and an installation proposal if you’d like our team to handle the build.
Can you work with my architect, designer, or landscape firm?
Yes. We frequently collaborate with architects, interior designers, and landscape firms. Our design documentation makes it easy for your existing team—or our installers—to execute a unified vision.
Can you also install what you design?
Absolutely. Many clients choose us to both design and install so there’s one team responsible for the entire process—design, installation, and night aiming.
How much does professional lighting design cost?
We typically start with a free budget range, then move into a design retainer if you’d like full plans and documentation. The design fee depends on the size and complexity of the property and can be applied toward installation if you move forward.
Do you work only in the Hamptons?
Our primary focus is the Hamptons and Long Island, but we can support select projects in other markets. Reach out with your project details and we’ll let you know what’s possible.
