Hamptons Landscape Lighting

Landscape Lighting Cost in the Hamptons.

A useful landscape-lighting budget starts with the property—not a fixture count. This guide explains the factors that change investment, where money is best spent, and how to plan a system that still feels considered years from now.

What You Are Really Buying

The fixture is only one part of the cost.

Landscape lighting in the Hamptons is a design, infrastructure and long-term service decision. The visible fixture matters, but so do the beam spread, optical control, mounting method, transformer design, wire routing, corrosion resistance, voltage drop, connection quality, controls, aiming and future service access.

That is why two proposals with the same number of fixtures can represent very different systems. One may be priced as a collection of products. The other may account for the architecture, mature trees, driveway arrival, pool and terrace, views from inside the house, glare control, seasonal growth and what salt air will do to the installation over time.

Our approach is to build the budget around the property and the experience you want after dark. If you are comparing options, our landscape lighting design process explains how the design develops before installation.

The Six Biggest Cost Drivers

What moves a Hamptons landscape-lighting budget up or down.

i

Property scale.

Lighting a front entry is different from coordinating a long driveway, multiple structures, pool terraces, mature trees, paths and distant landscape views across an estate.

ii

Fixture quality.

Marine-grade and coastal-ready fixtures, better optics, replaceable components and durable finishes usually cost more than commodity fixtures—but they are better suited to East End conditions.

iii

Installation conditions.

Hardscape crossings, stonework, finished planting beds, irrigation, roots, drainage, distance and limited access all affect labor and wiring strategy.

iv

Design complexity.

A few functional path lights are simpler than layered architectural, landscape, tree, sculpture, pool and destination lighting designed to read as one composition.

v

Controls & integration.

Simple astronomical control is different from integrating outdoor scenes with Lutron, Control4 or Savant so the exterior works with the rest of the property.

vi

Care after installation.

Landscape changes. Plants grow, fixtures move, lenses collect mineral deposits and aiming drifts. A system designed to be maintained protects the original result.

Planning Bands

Think in scopes, not fixture counts.

HLL's live inquiry form currently uses broad investment bands because the right number depends on the property. These bands are useful as a planning conversation—not as fixed packages or promises.

Below $5,000

Very limited scope.

Typically a small repair, focused upgrade or highly constrained area rather than a complete design-led property transformation.

$6k–$15k

Focused zones.

Can suit a defined entry, patio, small garden, selective architectural lighting or a first phase when the infrastructure is intentionally planned for expansion.

$16k–$30k

Broader coverage.

More room for layered lighting across several important areas, stronger fixture quality and a more complete design-and-aiming process.

$31k–$60k+

Estate-scale thinking.

Large properties, multiple destinations, extensive trees or architecture, premium fixtures, challenging infrastructure and integrated controls can move well beyond the top of the inquiry form's range.

Built for the East End

The cheapest installation is rarely the cheapest to own.

01

Salt air.

Material choice and connection quality matter when fixtures live in a corrosive coastal environment.

02

Irrigation & drainage.

Water finds weak connections. Installation detail matters as much as fixture finish.

03

Growth & change.

Plant material grows, trees fill out and views change. A design needs to be serviceable and adjustable.

04

Seasonal use.

Homes that sit empty need reliable timing, remote control and a service strategy that does not depend on constant homeowner attention.

Questions We Hear

Landscape lighting cost questions, answered.

How much does landscape lighting cost in the Hamptons?

There is no useful single price per fixture. Property scale, fixture quality, wiring distance, existing hardscape, landscape maturity, tree lighting, architectural lighting, control integration and the level of design and night aiming all change the investment. HLL uses a property-specific budget process so the number reflects the scope rather than a generic fixture multiplier.

What makes coastal landscape lighting more expensive?

Salt air, irrigation, storms and freeze-thaw cycles punish weak materials and poor connections. Coastal-ready fixtures, better connection methods, thoughtful drainage and serviceable installation may cost more initially, but they reduce repeated failures and make the system easier to maintain.

Can I start with one area and expand later?

Yes—if expansion is planned at the beginning. A phased project can prioritize the entry, outdoor living areas or another high-value zone while leaving transformer capacity, control strategy and wiring routes ready for future phases. That is very different from adding isolated fixtures without a larger plan.

Should landscape lighting integrate with my smart home?

It can. HLL works with Home Technology Experts to coordinate outdoor lighting with platforms such as Lutron, Control4 and Savant where appropriate. Integration can allow arrival, entertaining, bedtime and away scenes to include the exterior rather than treating landscape lighting as a separate timer.

Does the installation price include ongoing maintenance?

Installation and ongoing care are separate scopes. Outdoor systems live in a changing environment, so periodic cleaning, aiming, adjustments and inspection protect the result. HLL's Brilliance Care program is designed for that long-term upkeep.
