Path Lighting That Feels Intentional, Not Harsh

Great path and walkway lighting is about comfort and clarity—seeing where you’re going without feeling like you’re walking down an airport runway.

We balance brightness, spacing, and glare control so your guests feel guided—not blinded.
  • Clear, safe routes from drive to door
  • Soft, welcoming light for arrivals at night
  • No glare in windows or into neighbors’ sightlines
  • Fixtures that disappear into the landscape by day
Why It Matters
Path & walkway lighting is about more than just seeing your feet.

Safety & Confidence

Guests know exactly where to walk, even on rainy or moonless nights.

Welcoming Arrival

Entries feel warm and inviting instead of dark, flat, or overlit.

Highlighting the Landscape

Plantings, stonework, and curves in the path become part of the nighttime experience.

How We Approach Path & Walkway Lighting

Front Approaches

From Drive to Front Door

We create a clear, graceful route from parking to entry—lighting grade changes, turns, and thresholds so nothing feels abrupt or unsafe.

Ideal for arrival courts, circular drives, and long walks through planting beds.
Garden Walks

Through the Landscape

Path lights, low bollards, and gentle accent lights reveal texture in stone, foliage, and water features without overpowering the night.

Often paired with tree lighting and subtle downlighting for depth.
Secondary Routes

Side & Service Paths

Staff, kids, and guests still need to move safely along “back of house” routes like side yards, pool access, and trash or service paths.

Durable, low-maintenance fixtures that disappear during the day.

Path & Walkway Lighting FAQ

How far apart should path lights be spaced?
It depends on the fixture output, beam spread, and how the path curves, but we rarely “march” path lights in a straight line. Instead, we stagger and vary spacing so the route is clear without feeling like a runway.
Will path lighting create glare in my windows?
A good design accounts for views from inside as well as outside. We select fixtures and aiming angles to minimize direct glare into windows and seating areas.
Can you add path lighting to an existing landscape lighting system?
Often yes. We’ll evaluate transformer capacity, wiring layout, and existing zones, then design a path lighting layer that ties cleanly into what you already have.
Are the fixtures durable enough for coastal conditions?
Yes. We use coastal-rated fixtures designed for the Hamptons and Long Island—resistant to salt air, moisture, and the wear that comes with being near the water.
Can my path lights turn on automatically at dusk?
Absolutely. We can use timers, astronomical clocks, or integrate with systems like Lutron and Control4 so path and walkway scenes happen automatically.
